Damn. We lost a great actor yesterday.

Thomas Mikal "Tommy" Ford

I heard the news of his passing yesterday but it did not register until today. I grew up in the 90's & black sitcoms were definitely an influence in our household. Martin was one of those shows we sat & watched together as a family. Never missed one episode of Martin & the gang on T.V.. Within his posse were Tommy & Cole. Cole has a brain of a peanut & Tommy is his sensible buddy that has an invisible job. I loved it when they would always allude to the fact that Tommy ain't got no job! Loved every season & every minute.

Tommy gave us so many great memories from the Parkers to Class Act. I will miss you terribly Tommy.

Rest In Peace Brother.

Here is a funny clip with Martin Lawrence & Tommy Ford

Late last night I couldn't sleep so I ended up watching Nightline on ABC. The first story was none other than Donald Trump. This guy managed to soak up the media cycle for this past week. I did not think that Mr. Trump's campaign can get more ridiculous but it has & I have a feeling there is plenty more to come. He offended just about every other race but white. I understand he has no filter but does he even know what he is saying?

I'm not the least surprised when the Access Hollywood tape was released. I already knew this guy was a slithering creep. With his vulgar words & horrible details about what he was trying to do with the model, I threw up a little bit in my mouth. Damn there promoting sexual harassment too the world. Of course more allegations have come up since this tape was released last week.
Trump decided to defend himself at a recent rally, stating because of her physical appearance, he could have not touched her in the past. Wow. Really?! He also blamed the Clinton campaign & the media for releasing the tape. The same media he loves to use to his advantage.Well, Donald. You still said those things eleven years ago. All of a sudden the media is out to get him. Give me a break.

Not once has Mr. Trump talked about how he will find a solution to the real issues in America. Yes, he wants to make Make America Great Again. How? His campaign has yet to lay out a solid plan for Education reform, Foreign Policy, or even Taxes.

Everytime I see this guy on T.V. , he is always saying something nasty or hateful. Even worse is how his supporters are acting at his rallies. Earlier this year I noticed the fights at his rallies & negative signs in the air. Last night on Nightline, I had seen a supporter dressed up like Trump from head to toe. Some supporters were yelling at the camera. Pointing, spitting & saying hateful things. I even noticed some nasty signs some were holding up. One sign "White Women 4 Trump" another reading 'Build A Wall/Send them Back!". Just ridiculous.

I was not surprised. Just disappointed. America is better than what these people are showing at his rallies. Trump is a sideshow, a character, not a leader. WE have the power to change the narrative despite his stronghold on the news cycle.

I'm a firm believer in Good prevailing over Evil. I believe in a better outcome, a better future, a better America without him as President. We owe it to ourselves to strive for greatness. That starts with being a good person & work together in building a better, loving country. We should not settle for anything but also hate speech cannot be tolerated. We should lead by example & rise above the hatred. LOVE WILL ALWAYS TRUMP HATE.

We should always know our Black History not just in February but everyday! My father definitely made sure that my siblings & I knew our history & where we came from. I do notice that there is a lack of education with the Millennial generation knowing their roots.  Black history is American history & everyone should take the time to read up on what pivotal moments helped shape our country.

Today in history on December 5th there were two great defining moments that I am eternally grateful for.

Today in 1955 is when the Historic Bus Boycott began in Montgomery, Alabama. The mass meeting was held at the Holt Street Baptist Church. After Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat to a white male on December 1st, there was a call to action. Martin Luther King Jr. was elected President of the Boycott organization.

The bus boycott lasted 381 days. Forty thousand black commuters walked to work, some as far as twenty miles. The boycott helped bring national attention to injustice that was in the shadows of America. A seminal event in U.S. Civil Rights Movement.

Today is Little Richard's 83rd Birthday!!!

Little Richard was born in Macon, Georgia on December 5th, 1932. I have an "old soul" & own a few of Little Richard's records. Even though I was born in 1985, I feel like I missed out on a good era when Rock & Roll was becoming Rock & Roll in the 1950s & 60s.

Little Richard paved the way for so many artists like the Beatles, Otis Redding, Billy Preston, & Jimi Hendrix to name a few. He is truly the O.G. of Rock & Roll & deserves much more credit than he has received. Even though he is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, I feel like it is not enough. There should be a concert in his honor while he is still here.

His song Tutti Frutti  which was released in 1955, was included in the Library of Congress National Recording Registry. He was honored by the National Museum of African American History & Culture.

Little Richard does not make as many appearances as he used to but he did make an appearance earlier this year in June in Nashville, TN. He was honored by the National Museum of African American Art & Culture. He also helped raise funds for the museum & charmed the crowd with his sparkly boots.

So here's to you Little Richard! Thank You for what you have done for music & the African American community. Enjoy your 83rd Birthday!!!!
The Spike Lee movie CHIRAQ hit theaters on December 4th. From what I see,  the film is probably one of Spike Lee's best. I have grown up on Spike Lee films. As a kid I remember watching Do The Right Thing which was filmed in my father's neighborhood in Bedstuyvesant Brooklyn.

Spike Lee tells the truth with his films. Also written by Kevin Willmott, CHIRAQ is based on Aristophanes' Lysistrata classic Greek comedy play. A play about women withholding physical affection from their husbands as punishment for fighting in war. The film is a dramedy that stars actress Teyonah Parris who plays girlfriend to Gang leader played by Nick Cannon. Frustrated by the ongoing  gun violence in Chicago, she starts a sex strike by banding other women to abstain from sex until their boyfriends/husbands decide to end the unnecessary violence.

The film also has a stellar cast with: Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Hudson, Samuel L. Jackson, Steve Harris, John Cusack, & La La Anthony. Followed by a killer soundtrack with: Nick Cannon, R. Kelly, Mali Music, Jennifer Hudson & more.

This film is a dramatization on the real violence that is going on in Chicago but sad to say not that far from the truth. Although I do not live in Chicago. Unfortunately, the news is constantly reminding me how bad the violence is escalating in Chicago . It doesn't seem like their is a solution in sight to the gun violence that is killing men, women , & children of all ages. It makes no sense to me. The gang violence is crippling a community & the awareness has reached across the nation but where is the solution? How can the Police department grab a hold of a situation that is out of their reach? It is unfortunate that the communication between the black community & police department is weak. The senseless deaths at the hands of cops do not help. Somehow our community has to rise above this.

The film is in theaters now & I will definitely being going to see this film. I know some people have voice their opinions on not supporting the film because of the depiction of violence it shows in the city. Don't knock something until you see it. We need more films that represent the black community despite the violence. It is the TRUTH. If you don't like it, do not be part of the problem, be part of the solution.

Mondays don't always have to be a drag! Remember to find something to be grateful for & start the day w/ a smile!!!
I know this is totally random but I love me some Grace Jones!!

Not many artists are even on her level. She set the bar back in the 70's & they still can hold a candle to what she has done & what she is still doing! There will be no Lady Gaga, Janelle Monae, Erykah Badu, Miley Cyrus, & so many others if it was not for this amazing woman!

Grace Jones recently appeared on Alan Carr's show looking fabulous as always! She was promoting her new book I'll Never Write My Memoirs. She spilled the tea when mentioning the infamous threesome with Janice Dickinson! Janice mentioned it in her memoir years ago but Grace Jones goes into detail! Even stating she had fun & the guy involved had a huge dick! Whoa!

Who wouldn't want a threesome with Grace Jones? Sign me up!!

Her new book which hit shelves in September is also available on Amazon. Buy it tomorrow on Cyber Monday for a great deal & a look into Queen Grace's life. I have it on my wishlist!

Respect & Bow down to Grace Jones!
